2020-2021 Project
Alec Marshall, President General
The 2020-2021 President General's project was America's Homeland Defense. The project was based around learning about the ways in which the United States protected our own land throughout our history. Members were encouraged to learn about the defenses of their own areas and (safely) visit those sites to dig deeper into the history of their own communities.

The 2019-2020 National project was to raise funds for the United States Naval Academy Museum, specifically the maintenance, conservation, or exhibition of their War of 1812 artifacts.
2018-2019 Project:
Restoration of the watercolor depicting the Constitution and the Guerriere
Eliza Marshall, President General
The 2018-2019 National project was to raise money to restore an 1813 watercolor painting of the naval battle between the US Frigate Constitution and HMS Guerriere. The painting was done by George Godsell Thresher, a North American artist who did a series of watercolors of naval battles. Money raised will go to ensuring that the painting can be properly conserved, a multi-step process that involves dry and wet preservation methods.

2017-2018 Project
Lily Garnett, President General
The 2016-2017 National Project was titled, “Joining the Narrative”. The organization was under the leadership of National President, Lily E. Garnett, and Senior National President, Mrs. Debbie Hinckley. During that year, the Children of 1812 worked to raise funds for the Jordan Noble drum exhibit, located at The Cabildo- a museum in downtown New Orleans. More importantly, we spent the year learning about the life of Jordan Noble, an African American drummer boy at the Battle of New Orleans. Our members learned the importance of Noble’s narrative, and how young people at the time were vital chroniclers to the next generation, as they passed down their own accounts from that significant point in our nation’s history. During our 2017 National Convention, members of our organization visited the Chalmette Battlefield, the Andrew Jackson Monument in Jackson Square, and of course, The Cabildo. Unfortunately, we came to find out that, unbeknownst to us, the Jordan Noble drum exhibit had been moved to a different museum elsewhere in the country at some point during that year. While this was an unexpected surprise at the time, The Cabildo was homing another drum from the War of 1812 that was in desperate need of care. It was an easy decision to still donate our $600 of raised funds to The Cabildo, but, rather, for the the care and upkeep of this newfound drum. This sponsorship, and the educational elements of our project throughout that past year, will ensure that future generations will be able to enjoy and learn about the individual narratives that the young people of 1812 wrote for themselves, and how they shape our country today.

The 2015-2016 theme was "Living History," a project benefiting Ft. Meigs in Perrysburg, Ohio. Built in 1813, the fort was designed to fortify the region. It was able to with stand two seiges before being torn down and rebuilt on a smaller scale to serve as a supply depot. It was then reconstructed in 1970 to educate young people. Our goal was to donate to the general fund of Ft. Meigs, since it is maintained entirely by donations and volunteers.
